Sample digestion is controlled automatically in the Combustion Module (Oven + ABD). The principle is simple: A light guide channels the light created during combustion out of the pyrolysis oven to an optical sensor. This then measures the intensity of the light and controls the feed of the sample boat into the oven proportionately to it. This optimizes the duration of the combustion in such a way that it is always complete (no soot formation), while allowing waiting times as safety buffers to be dispensed with.
Thanks to the automated control of the sample digestion, method development for the combustion is completely dispensed with, meaning that not only different samples, but also different sample quantities can be treated with a universal "method".
